Christmas in Briare
Christmas 2009 was a cold one. We spent Christmas in Briare and it was a wonderful white Christmas too. At home in Ireland it’s very seldom that we get any snow before January and the bookies always make a fortune off people betting on a white Christmas.
There is a great community atmosphere in the town of Briare. The town is decorated for the season and it’s clear to see that there was a great effort made. Have a look at the videos below to get a taste of the atmosphere.
This is what the port looks like at night. The snow has covered all the boats and the canal has frozen over and now has a layer of snow on it too.
Here the resident geese in the port have found a melt hole in the ice and they seem quite unpreturbed by the weather.
