This is or blog or Video Blog. It’s the new format we have moved to instead of the written word we’re now bringing you video. After all a picture says a thousand words. Hope you enjoy them and keep watching for new ones.
In this episode we cruise through Rooskey and Tarmonbarry.
We are on our way to the town of Lanesborough on the northern tip of Lough Res. But first we need to negotiate the lifting span at Rooskey. We have a brief look around the moorings there and also at the Waterways Ireland depot. Then we head into the lock to defend all of about two feet before we can continue on.
A cruise from Battlebridge to the town of Carrick on Shannon.
In this episode we cruise from Battlebridge on the north of the river Shannon and travel south to the town of Carrick on Shannon. In Carrick on Shannon we take a walk about the town in lovely sunshine and visit some of the sights including the tiny little church of Costello memorial chapel. At just sixteen feet by twelve feet this is the second smallest church in the world. If you want to see a smaller one you will have to travel to the holy land where I’m told you can find one.
We leave Lough Key after taking a spin about the lake and then cruise along the Boyle river to its junction with the river Shannon and we even cruise a wee bit of canal at Leitrim, before heading back up the river to Battlebridge. One lake, two rivers and a canal, all in one spin. We share the moorings at Leitrim with a small family of swans, just one little signet. I’ll bet they spoil him. Cruising from Leitrim up a particularly pretty piece of river that I like really like.
The trip up the river Shannon to Lough Key takes us along the Boyle river, one of the tributaries of the river Shannon. We cruise through the lake passing Castle Island on the way and we tie up at the public moorings at Lough key Forrest Park.
We leave a busy harbour at Dromod in glorious sunshine and cruise upriver towards Carrick on Shannon. The scenery is second to none as we cruise through river and lakes along the way. Climb aboard and joins our adventure as we go boating and cruising along the Irish waterways.
This is our very first video blog, hope you enjoy the trip with us along the river Shannon from Tarmonbarry up river to the town of Dromod. The weather is super and the scenery is just out of this world.
